North Carolina Pickle Festival
Since 1987, the North Carolina Pickle Festival has grown and captured national attention. The open air festivities encompass the Mount Olive downtown business area, where thousands attend each year. The festival features live entertainment, an antique car show, carnival rides, petting zoo, games, food, vendors, vintage farm equipment display – and of course, lots of pickles!
Pig in the Park BBQ Celebration
Bringing the community together for great BBQ, live music, and local vendors, Wayne County’s celebrated barbeque tradition lives on. This event draws foodies from far and near to experience the mouth watering tastes, and tempting aromas of Carolina barbeque. The event culminates with a cook-off for the coveted Best Barbeque title. If you're interested in sampling some incredible BBQ outside of this April event, every resident here has an opinion on who's best and will be glad to share their favorite spot.
Wings Over Wayne
Seymour Johnson Air Force Base opens its door by hosting the biannual Wings Over Wayne Air Show.
Features which draw on the patriotic military presence in our region, include spectacular performances by either the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds
or U.S. Navy Blue Angels
, the U.S. Army Black Daggers Parachute Demonstration Team
, and the Tora! Tora! Tora! Pearl Harbor Re-Creation
. The community is invited to climb into aircraft, meet fighter pilots and salute our brave soldiers. Recent concert performances have included country music star and American Idol finalist, Kellie Pickler.
Center Street Jams
These popular Thursday night summer events in downtown Goldsboro, sport a live concert series showcasing regional talent, food and beverages. Admission is free.
